Chimney Repairs and Repointing by Century Roofing LTD

Chimneys take more weather than any other part of a house and they are the most common source of a leak. Soft mortar, cracked flaunching, failed lead or a broken pot all let water in, and the stain usually appears somewhere else entirely.

We repoint and re-flaunch chimney stacks, replace pots and fit cowls and caps, renew the lead flashings and soakers around the base, and rebuild stacks where the brickwork has gone too far. We also remove redundant chimneys and roof over properly when that is the better option.

Every chimney job starts with a proper look at the whole stack and the roof around it, with photos so you can see what we are talking about.

Chimney work carries our minimum 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.

If you have damp near a chimney breast or you can see the mortar crumbling, get in touch for a free estimate.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my chimney is leaking?

Damp patches on the chimney breast or ceiling near it, especially after heavy rain, are the usual sign. Crumbling mortar or lifted lead seen from the ground are others. We will go up and check properly.

What is flaunching?

The mortar cap on top of the stack that holds the pots in place and sheds water. When it cracks, water gets into the brickwork. We re-flaunch stacks as part of chimney repairs.

Can you take a chimney down?

Yes. If a chimney is redundant and in poor condition, removing it and roofing over can be the better long-term option. We will give you both prices.
